Don't let yourself fall victim to doubt when it comes to investing in Barstow California and its surrounding Mojave Desert areas. With hundreds of square miles of relatively flat, undeveloped, inexpensive land, this sunshine laden area rests quietly in the path of the ongoing Southern California migration that is headed northward.
Growth
A large southern near-neighbor, Victorville, and a growing oasis in nearby Helendale (the resort community of Silver Lakes) are expanding housing and commerce directly toward Barstow, Lenwood, Newberry Springs, and other investment opportunities. Don't be a doubter, it's happening, only just beneath the radar.

Transportation
Barstow is recognized as a major transportation hub in California, located at the junction of 3 major highways -- Interstate 15, Interstate 40 and State Highway 58. It is centrally located in the western Mojave at the entrance to the Mojave National Preserve and is home of the U.S. Army National Training Center, Marine Corps Logistics Base, NASA's Goldstone Deep Space Network and Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad Yards.
Surroundings
The word desert will discourage some, but the surrounding Mojave will only captivate those who come to meet her. Barstow rests in the heart of the Mojave Desert, surrounded by rocks, flowers, trees, history, and endless blue skies. The old west is here, so too are Native American histories left upon the aged stones. Thirty miles to the east of Barstow, water flows year-round in the Afton Canyon Preserve. A mini Grand Canyon, Afton has sheer walls in every imaginable shade of pink that tower 300 feet above the Mojave River. Bighorn sheep live in the area and may be seen coming to the river to drink. Along Historic Route 66 to the north, the 250-foot-high Amboy Crater is approximately 6,000 years old. Springtime paints its surrounding topography the color of wildflowers. Route 66 itself is a landmark, an artery of americana leading through Barstow, still traveled daily. No matter the direction, something interesting awaits the soul in this mysterious, siren-like presence that is the Mojave. Once smitten, you will never forget her.
